Picking up right where the last installment left off, Lady of the Drowned Empire does not disappoint! After so many heart-wrenching moments in Guardian, how could it possibly get better? Leave it to Frankie.
I have never experienced such a passionate and dedicated sequel. Every moment has you on the edge of your seat, desperately rooting for Lyriana to take back what belongs to her. From the first page to the last, there is never a dull moment. While tensions rise and bubble over, Frankie manages to create an intense story with sacred moments of intimacy delicately placed in moments of peace.
While Daughter and Guardian include plenty of steamy moments, as well as Son of the Drowned Empire, Lady takes the cake. For me, intimate scenes are something that often feels forced, but Frankie creates an intimacy that is both genuine and wholesome.
Aside from the relationships developing in numerous ways, we learn more about Lumeria and the gods that came before! Lore is one of my favorite things to learn about when diving into a series. For me, it’s the little puzzle pieces that build the world around the characters, and often it’s quite fascinating. Frankie does not let us down with this fantastic exploration into the history of her world.
If you’ve been enjoying the series so far, you’ll be more than satisfied with Lady of the Drowned Empire and eagerly awaiting the next release. From new perspectives and relationships to political intrigue and Lumerian history, Frankie leaves her readers wanting more of her phenomenal writing, while fulfilling the hype for book three.
As part of the ARC team, I received a free copy of this book in exchange for a review, but it has not affected my judgment. If I don’t like a book, I’ll let you know, but I have nothing but praise for Frankie Diane Mallis. I eagerly await the next installment in the series, as should you!
